Horace Allen has "only" worked at Title I middle and high schools in his role as a classroom teacher. Through the implementation of the LegacyCreators Roadmap to Success, Horace Allen facilitated successful outcomes during his three years at Morningside Middle School (CCSD), one year at North Charleston High School (CCSD), and three years at South Garner High School (WCPSS).
The mission of LegacyCreators and the Federal TRiO Programs (i.e. Upward Bound, Student Support Services and GEAR UP) are consistent based on the fact they both support students from challenging socio-economic circumstances and first generation college students as a means to promote and assist their progress through the Academic Pipeline From Middle School to Post Baccalaureate Endeavors.
The mission of LegacyCreators and the Federal TRiO Programs (i.e. Upward Bound, Student Support Services and GEAR UP) are consistent based on the fact they both support students from challenging socio-economic circumstances and first generation college students as a means to promote and assist their progress through the Academic Pipeline From Middle School to Post Baccalaureate Endeavors.
Research Studies have shown students who attended high poverty and traditionally low academic performing Title I schools disproportionately represent the percentage of adults who are 1) under/unemployed, 2) reliant on public assistance for food and housing, 3) participants in gang related activities, 4) associated with the illicit drug trade, 5) perpetrators of crime and violence, and 6) subsequently incarcerated in the state and federal prison systems of the United States.

For students whose daily exposure is a family living paycheck to paycheck supplemented with public subsidies for both food and shelter, the idea of graduating from high school, learning a skill or trade from a vocational school/community college that pays a livable wage or earning a college degree over a four year time span is unimaginable.
LegacyCreators is convinced that with the commitment of students, their families and the community in which they reside, a fundamental transformation and paradigm shift can occur for socio-economically challenged students attending Title I Schools. Mr. Allen, Founder and CEO, and Mr. Bell, Board Chair, attended two of the most prestigious private undergraduate and graduate institutions in the U.S. despite the fact they were raised in the housing projects of New York. They have a real life understanding of what it means to be committed to success while enduring the struggle. Mr. Allen and Mr. Bell are not the typical private school alumni who were born on third base and somehow believe they hit a triple. As a life long entrepreneur, Mr. Allen knows what it means to be cash rich and cash poor in the same year. Mr. Bell knows what it means be signed by the New York Giants with fanfare and glory only to be cut by that same NFL franchise without any pomp or circumstance. Mr. Allen and Mr. Bell have have walked in the shoes of the students in which they serve. Mr. Bell is an ALUMNI of LegacyCreators and a living embodiment of the organization's ability to produce systemic successful outcomes for students from the most challenging socio-economic and academic circumstances in the U.S.

Vickie earned a B.A. from Ithaca College and an M.A. from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (Harvard Kennedy School).
